Understand: When to Use Unlimited Pricing

Select Unlimited pricing instead of Free pricing under certain circumstances.

Free pricing offers access to a wide array of fundraising features, including:

  • Raffles
  • Sweepstakes
  • A-Thons
  • Peer-to-Peer
  • Events & Ticketing
  • Store (Sales)
  • Crowdfunding
  • Donation Pages

Most RallyUp users will be able to fundraise with Free pricing and avoid paying a Platform Fee. However, there are some circumstances where the features offered with Unlimited pricing will better suit your needs.

This article covers specific differences between Free and Unlimited pricing that may influence your decision. For full details on all pricing options, see Understand: RallyUp Pricing Options.

Disable Donor Tipping and Bonus Entries

With Free pricing, donors are asked if they want to leave an optional tip during checkout:

If you're running a Free pricing Raffle or Sweepstakes, donors are offered discounted bonus entries in exchange for a tip:

Understand: Bonus Entries

Donors can easily decline, but some organizers prefer not to ask donors for tips or bonus entry purchases at all. Unlimited pricing allows you to completely disable donor tipping and bonus entries.

This is also a great option if you have a sponsor covering fundraising costs like platform fees. Unlimited pricing charges a 7.5% Platform Fee on the total amount raised, making it easier for sponsors to calculate costs.

Keep Tips and Proceeds from Bonus Entries

Some organizers want to ask donors to tip or buy bonus entries, and then keep the tips to offset fundraising costs. With Free pricing, tips and bonus entry purchases go to RallyUp, but with Unlimited pricing, they go to your organization. The 7.5% Platform Fee is then calculated from the final amount raised.

It's possible to earn enough in tips or bonus entry sales to cover the Platform Fee and then some. In that case, your organization keeps all additional revenue.

Pass Fees on to Donors

In addition to letting you keep the tips, Unlimited pricing also offers the following ways to pass the Platform Fee and payment processing fees on to donors:

  • Add a Convenience Fee to each transaction (flat dollar amount or set percentage)
  • Platform Fee:
    • Require donors to cover the Platform Fee
    • Give donors the option to cover the Platform Fee
  • Payment processing fees:
    • Require donors to cover the payment processing fees (available if you require donors to cover the Platform Fee)
    • Give donors the option to cover the payment processing fees (available if you give donors the option to cover the Platform Fee)

Run an Auction or Livestream

Auctions and Livestreaming are not available with Free pricing, so you'll need to opt for Unlimited to access these Activities.

Access Additional Activity Features

Unlimited pricing unlocks extra features for the following Activities:

  • Raffles and Sweepstakes
    • Option to add more than 10 prizes
    • No entry minimum on lowest entry level (Free pricing requires your lowest entry level to include a minimum of 10 entries)
    • Prize categories
    • Merch and Impact Levels
  • A-Thons
    • Run multiple A-Thon activities in one Experience
  • Peer-to-Peer
    • Option to add more than 10 prizes, 500 participants, and 50 teams
  • Events and Ticketing
    • Ticket categories
  • Store
    • Item categories

If any of these features are necessary for your fundraiser, we recommend opting for Unlimited pricing.

Good to Know

  • We recommend selecting only one way to pass fees on to donors: asking for tips, OR charging a convenience fee, OR asking/requiring donors to cover the Platform Fee/processing fees. Donors are typically happy to help cover fundraising costs, but multiple surcharges may frustrate donors and discourage donations.
