Understand: Debit and Credit Card Processing Fees

Learn how payment processing fees are calculated and deducted from the funds you raise.

All RallyUp fundraising Experiences allow donors to make payments with a debit or credit card. These card payments are processed by Stripe or PayPal, which charge a processing fee for all card payments.

Who Receives the Fees?

The bank or other financial institution that issues the debit or credit card gets most of this fee. Stripe and PayPal get a very small portion of the fee for collecting and processing the payment.

RallyUp does not receive any portion of the credit card fees. The fees are set strictly by Stripe, PayPal, and the credit card companies.

Standard Fee Rates

Payment processing fee rates charged by Stripe or PayPal can differ according to several factors. We suggest contacting Stripe or PayPal directly to confirm your rate. Please note that it can take them a few days to respond if they get a high volume of requests.

Nonprofit Discount

If you have been granted a Stripe or PayPal nonprofit discount, you can update your processing fee rate in your account settings. This will ensure that any RallyUp reports accurately reflect the fees your organization will be charged.

Fees When Using Managed Funds

Please note that the nonprofit discount is only available if you set up a direct Stripe or PayPal account. If you need to set up Managed Funds so that RallyUp collects all payments on your behalf, you’ll be charged Stripe’s standard 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction rate.
